2021 seems to be off to a good start. We’ve had some updates on upcoming film releases, and we’re also getting some great films on streaming and in theatres soon. And with things looking to return to normal in most places within the coming months, its safe to say that we’ll be back at the movies in no time.
Earlier this week, Neill Blomkamp director of the critically acclaimed cult classic science fiction film, District 9 tweeted out that a sequel to the film is currently in the works, and will be called District 10. It’s being written by himself, as well as District 9 star Sharlto Copley, and District 9 screenwriter Terri Tatchell. Check out the original tweet from the director here:

In 2009, “District 9,” produced by TriStar Pictures, Block/Hanson and WingNut Films, grossed $211 million worldwide, the largest-ever sum for a South African film. It received four Academy Award nominations, including best picture and original screenplay and there’s a lot of excitement around a sequel.
